Telling the story of Green Man Lane’s transformation
Turning a long-term regeneration project into a clear human story
How do you tell the story of a regeneration project that spans more than a decade?
For over 15 years, Macbeth Lankester has supported John Rowan and Partners with communications around the Green Man Lane regeneration in Ealing. We have been involved from the earliest campaigns to build community understanding, through years of construction and partnership delivery, to the point where the project is now recognised as a leading example of estate regeneration.
The communications challenge was not simply to explain what was being built. It was to help people understand why it mattered.
Green Man Lane was about new homes, but it was also about pride, trust, better living conditions and long-term partnership. Our role was to take a complex, multi-phase development and turn it into a clear, evolving story that residents, the local authority and project partners could understand and support.
Keeping people informed through every stage of change
Working alongside John Rowan and Partners, A2Dominion and Ealing Council, we helped shape and share the project’s narrative at every stage.Early engagement campaigns that helped the community understand and back the plans.
- Construction phase communications to keep residents informed and supported.
- Media stories that celebrated progress and milestones.
- Thought leadership that positioned John Rowan and Partners as trusted experts in housing delivery and partnership-led regeneration.
From features in Inside Housing to ongoing digital and stakeholder communications, our work has continually showcased the project as an example of how sustainable regeneration can transform lives, not just landscapes.
Communications don’t just manage a message, they help shape a legacy
Today, Green Man Lane is unrecognisable from the estate it once was. Over 700 new homes, high environmental standards, and a vibrant mix of tenures have created a model for urban renewal.
Public perception has changed dramatically, from scepticism to pride. The project is now widely cited as one of London’s regeneration success stories, demonstrating the power of collaboration between developers, councils and consultants.
For John Rowan and Partners, it remains a flagship project, proof that when communications are embedded from day one, they don’t just manage a message, they help shape a legacy.
